Juhani
Lehtonen
CEO, FOUNDER
Master of Science, Tech.
Juhani is the father of many ideas that emerged in the background of the company. Juhani has a degree in pulp and paper engineering as well as environmental engineering from Aalto University and Denmark Technological University.
Juhani has worked in several pulp and paper mills in different positions all over Europe. His experience is also enriched with several sales and marketing management positions at Mercuri International, Tellabs, Sphairon and Goodmill Systems. In addition to GloCell, he is also active in consultancy at ICG Innotiimi.
Jarmo
Kahala
COO
Master of Science, Tech.
Jarmo joined the GloCell team in August 2017 as CEO. He has a Master of Science degree in pulp and paper technology from Helsinki University of Technology.
Jarmo has a solid background in the pulp and paper industry, data analysis and industrial software development. He has worked in several management and expert positions at technology company Savcor, data analysis software company KCL Development, research institute Keskuslaboratorio (KCL) and gas company AGA. He has a very long and deep understanding of data analysis-based process problem solving.
Maiju
Kemppainen
SENIOR CONSULTANT, Master of Science, Tech.
Maiju joined GloCell in Oct 2022 as an independent consultant. She takes care of technical customer services, customer training and SoftaCellTM updates together with our partners.
She has a Master of Science degree in paper technology from Aalto University (former Helsinki University of Technology). She worked almost two decades in Europe for several IT companies including GM owned EDS and Microsoft in business and data analysis, technical customer service, training as well as project management.
Lauri Lehtonen
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD, PhD
Lauri is an international innovation leadership professional with a track record in generating growth through innovation, as well as developing and executing innovation strategy.
He has been setting-up and leading cross-functional global organizations. Lauri has been leading innovation and R&D organizations in consumer packaged goods (Kimberly-Clark), healthcare (Merck) and the forest industry (International Paper and Stora Enso).
Aleksi Lehtonen
SENIOR ADVISOR, PhD
Aleksi Lehtonen is a Research professor at Natural Resources Institute Finland. He graduated from University of Helsinki with a PhD in forests and their C exchange in 2006.
He has previously acted as a team leader at Luke, leading the work of 24 researchers. Lehtonen’s current post involves constant development and testing of different empirical and process-based models that are used to estimate the GHG exchange of forest ecosystems. He has authored 82 peer-reviewed scientific publications.
Jari Hiekkapelto
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, Master of Music
Jari is a seasoned fullstack developer and team lead with broad experience across backend systems, web applications, and mobile front ends. He has contributed to SaaS platforms for light entrepreneurs, digital services for a lunch restaurant chain, and even a large-scale lottery system.
Before stepping into the tech world, Jari worked as a professional pianist and conductor — a background that still informs his structured and creative approach to software. Originally from Finland, he has also worked in Germany, where he now lives.
